    Fiction or non fiction?

The book is a good read, invoking some memories of the era, having lived a similar life in the 60's I was able to compare some of the scenarios to my own experiences. I get the impression that certain things didn't ring true but you would have had to be there at the time to appreciate the finer details. There are a few sexually explicit passages that I think the book could have done without and it is because of this I would not recommend it to any one other than a broad minded adult. It really is a shame as this book could have become a brilliant reference to poverty in the 1960's. It would not be suitable for instance to be included in a school library

  • I couldn't put this book down!

This book was an excellent read from start to finish. I found myself unable to put it down, I wanted to know what Tommy and his siblings were going to do next. The book was well written I felt as though I was there with them playing games, fighting against their cousin's and their enemies the Boyd's. When Tommy had his encounter with the 'Moors Murders' my heart was in my mouth. If you enjoy true life books this is one you really should not miss.

  • Spoiler Alert!

Although not entirely sure how much of it is embelishment of his memories, I thouroughly enjoyed this book as a story. Not however the story i thought it was going to be. I felt the Moors Murderers element was purely a marketing stunt and added no value to the book whatsoever. We chose it as our book club read and we all agreed we all felt almost cheated by the lack of this element. Having said that I would recommend it for its entertainment value.
