I wanted a cheap rim lock for a garden gate for convenience. This product fitted the bill at a good price.

BRASS FRONT DOOR LOCK (NOT)
The description says 'Brass front door....', and there's no brass whatsoever in the lock, just plated tin. Even the barrel and is silver plated, not even brass coloured. The keys are a bad fit and only operate the lock when turned clockwise, not anticlockwise as well. Very poor design and build. Too many Ebay sellers think brass is a colour not actually a metal alloy of copper and zinc and so many products nowadays are made from machine pressed thin steel and plated a brass looking colour, like this item.The description says 'Brass front door....', and there's no brass whatsoever in the lock, just plated tin. Cheap latch
It's cheap but I knew that, I was buying cheap, the latch is OK but the cylinder is bad, I had to apply graphite lube to even make it turn, so a slightly better cylinder would make the world of a difference. The latch is worth having at the price if you want a cheap quick fix that will be done properly in the near future which is all I required but someone without any experience would end up throwing it and buying another from elsewhere.It's cheap but I knew that, I was buying cheap, the latch is OK but the cylinder is bad, I had to apply graphite lube to even make it turn, so a slightly better cylinder would make the world of a difference. Cheap but flimsy
This product may be cheap but is very flimsy. The metal body is very thin and brittle - it is highly likely to break and come off the door just from normal use. This is probably better suited for use on a room door as opposed to a main door.
