Published in 2007 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of Star Wars, this book documents the creation of the film. Everything is covered, from the initial drafts of the script, right through the production and release in May 1977. This is a fascinating read, one of the best books about cinema. As well as including rare archival interviews, discovered in the vaults of LucasFilm, this is handsomely designed and lavishly illustrated, including concept art, storyboards and matte paintings. The author's meticulous research displays an amazing level of insightful detail and delivers a comprehensive and honest account. J W Rinzler sadly passed away recently, I could list a dozen other films that I would have loved to see him write a making of book about. The Making Of Star Wars is a definitive work, truly excellent and a must have for fans.Read full review
