This is a PATA/IDE interface 2.5" HDD, great quality and perfect to renew that old laptop that's been sitting around without being used.

Exceptional product! and performs great for the money
I purchased this product as a replacement for the damaged 40GB IDE hardisk that came with my laptop and is a cost effective solution to upgrading your current hardisk for a higher capacity to store extra MP3's and Videos ect without having to purchase an external drive freeing up the already limited USB ports on my older laptop. Superb performance so far very good.
Although having bought a Samsung 3.5" 250GB IDE HDD that failed early in life, I still trust the brand as generally very reliable. Using Linux and making an error during installation, had to erase & re-install, however after updating second os, grub screen locked os on restart so had to do grub recovery. I have no idea if this is the drive not fully erasing. Since then performance can only be described as excellent, fast & precise. The drive installed easily and the Win 7 os was loaded without problem. In operation, the drive is fast and quiet; what more do you want? Quality product for the price!
I bought this Samsung 160GB hard drive to replace the faulty and slower 20GB from my Acer Travelmate laptop, and it's much faster. As well as the greater storage capacity, it has shown to be reliable so far. If you are looking to upgrade or to replace your hard drive, the Samsung is great value for money!
