from july 1914 to 1919 march the wipers times gives a great understanding on how the men not the generals give so much with a funny side of events grandad was shot in the knee at the somme battle ,but was sent back after 59 days in reading hospital ,the generals was never shot so thankyou to the wipers times for this important part of HISTORY. its a great read.

  • A very interesting reflection at an appalling time.

You get what you expect from this book. The humour may not be riotous but considering the appalling conditions of the time the fact that there was any humour at all is amazing. Its the sort of book you will dip in and out of.

  • Painfully funny

This copy was in excellent, only slightly used condition. The content is another thing, at once horrifying and a remarkable insight into the way in which humour allows us to cope with unthinkable, unimaginable circumstances.
