Sturdy & reliable
I’ve always been happy and felt that my data is safe with LaCie hard drives. This is my 3rd rugged HD (due to filling them up). I still use the 1st LaCie Rugged HD that I bought 6years ago. And some on my LaCie non-rugged HDs are 15+ years old. They’ve never let me down. I find the LaCie HDs are slightly more expensive, but well worth it for peace of mind.

Safety for important images and data
This is the latest of five of these drives, of various sizes from 1 to 6 TB, which I have bought. I am a photographer, and use them both for backup and for downloading in the field. Hence the rugged -ness of these drives is vital, especially when using medium format cameras, with which each image is about 150 mg. Part of the work involves digitising old transparencies, and though these are much smaller, about 45mg each, there are at least 30k of them and so transference to my main backup system is vital, and involves a two mile trip from my scanner to my main store: here the rugged 6 TB drive gives me plenty of space.
