SAPPHIRE
SAPPHIRE is one of the better British films made and released in the late 1950's. An excellent cast of famous actors including Nigel Patrick, Bernard Miles, Michael Craig, and Yvonne Mitchell, Produced by Michael Relph and Directed by Basil Dearden. This was a thought provoking who done-it-crime centered on Race Relations in Britain. Always on the move, this drama follows Scotland Yard detectives as they hunt for the killer of an attractive girl who wanted to marry into an established English family, but all is not what it seems and there is a strong current of racial hatred flowing beneath family values. Definitely an outstanding film and very rare on DVD. Buy it for its clever plot as it twists and turns through its entire story. Good Value. Great British Crime Thriller
An intelligent, gripping crime thriller which exposes the racist element in British society and the police in the 1950s. Excellent performances from, what was at the time, a stellar British cast, including Nigel Patrick, Michael Craig, Bernard Miles and Yvonne Mitchell. Highly recommended.
