I use this trackerball as I am disabled. I have lie flat for quite a long time. I use my laptop as a chest top! The trackerball allows me to use a pointing device with comfort. It is well designed and beats it's predecessor with having a retain ball. The scroll ring is also another innovative design feature. Overall it is great.

Maybe I had oddly shaped hands, but this trackball just seems to bulky and high where the palm of your hand sits. With or without the supplied rubber palm rest, your arm ends up at an uncomfortable angle and your palm will be sore after a few hours' work. I had my old Logitech Trackman for years, it fitted perfectly. But these days the choice of trackballs is limited, I've bought another Logitech instead. The kensington just seems too wide, it's buttons don't sit where your fingers are. The scroll ring is nice though, better than Logitech's awkward extra buttons.

Setup is easy, simply pop the ball into place, plug into a USB port, and you're away. No batteries to worry about. Easy. The software (I downloaded latest version from the Kensington website), is an optional easy install to get the most out of the functionality of the device. It works just fine without bothering with this step in Win7. I found using it very strange at first, and after a little while built up the muscle memory to make using everything fine without frustration. I found the scroll wheel much more comfortable to use than the one on a regular mouse. My hand remains comfortably in place on the added wrist rest, and using the device is easy with just a couple of fingers. Without the claw-hand fatigue of a mouse. I like the fact I can use my thumb to operate the right-click button (I'm a leftie), so no more annoying wrong clicks for me. I also like how the cursor remains exactly where I leave it, so no more hunting for it if the mouse gets moved, as used to happen. I find it's great for internet, desktop & office apps. I have no idea how this would perform for gaming. My guess is that it would depend entirely on the dexterity of the user. In general I'm very glad I bought this, and laugh when I think why I didn't get one sooner. Read full review

Hello my name is matt, I am a hardcore fps and strategy pc gamer i have been using Kensington on-top trackball mouse's since 2002 so this is the 3rd gen i have owned each has had redesigned making it more comfortable and harder wearing. This model is the first in its line to have the scroll feature and the only trackball mouse i have ever seen thats has the scroll "ring" arrangement which is pure genius, you can operate the trackball, scroll and click all at the same time. Another new feature from the last model is the ball is now held so if the mouse gos upside down the ball is safe and does not fall out and roll to the other side of the room and under a sofa!. The fact that this mouse is so accurate and can change mouse direction so quickly never mind able to make a player spin rapidly on the spot in game by spinning the ball quickly i have been called a hacker or cheater by other in games players, who just cant imagine how i am doing it MAGIC that alone is priceless. also very fun in flying games to easily preform barrel rolls that confuse the hell out of the enemy. each one i have owned lasted minimum of 4 or more years of hard abuse, you just need to remove the ball and gently clean the rollers. my frieds got tired of me getting kills so easily so now 5 of them use this mouse too 1 of them works within a big Internet company as a programer and another friend is admin to 2000+ pc network. Mouses twice the price are not as good as this, ive tryed other trackballs by gaming brands and high street brands they cant match this for price an quality. yes u can get mouses with funky features but after 3-4 years of abuse they probably wont be working probably where as the kensington will still be ready for more.Read full review
I've been using trackballs for years and they're all much the same apart from this one. It has a scroll ring which I find very useful. The reason I haven't given it five stars is because it wears out after a while and I end up having to replace it. No idea why this is but it's not just the Kensington trackballs. The nice thing about them is the price and so I don't mind buying a new one every few years.
