unobtrusive safety
I bought a linked heat detector and smoke detector to replace ones which had come to the end of their operating life. The new models fitted easily into the old holders, just needing the new connectors which were provided to be screwed in. The new models have rechargeable batteries which are on constant charge via the mains feed, so no more dead batteries beeping in the middle of the night. Thankfully the units haven't been tested in anger, but having them installed, plus a CO monitor near the gas fire and a stand alone smoke detector, helps me sleep at night. The units are compact and unobtrusive, with a simple led to show that they are operational.
