Great replacement for an old friend.
I bought this to replace a 500Gb model which died on me. I've had 2 of these for many many years and I just needed to replace one of them. Just a shame it's only 250Gb. Apart from that I'm more than happy with it. More versatile than any other make ancient or modern. CHEERS Vic.

Panasonic or Humax
As someone has said, buttons very close so remote cluttered, not used all the functions yet like disk play but what I have found is that it takes quite a tie to perform each function, you almost feel that you have to press the button again. The humax was fast and far more logical to use even though it was over 10 years old, now has given up. Of course the Humax did not play disks which is why I purchased the Panasonic but used as a normal freesat I have yet to get used to the screen info, its not as clear as the Humax, I have also yet to find out how to rewind live tv if I want to check what someone has said, again dead easy with the Humax so its going to take a lot longer to understand all the Panasonic does Graham PS in short the whole workings are long winded and not logical.As someone has said, buttons very close so remote cluttered, not used all the functions yet like disk play but what I have found is that it takes quite a tie to perform each function, you almost feel that you have to press the button again. A Great Purchase!
Being a PS3 owner, I wasn't looking for another blu-ray player, but wanted a different option to Sky for some HD channels, so looked at Freesat, and needed a new DVD recorder anyway, so killed two birds with one stone. First, getting it set up. EASY! Bought a new quad LNB (as already have a sky dish) and cable from ebay for £20 and did it myself in about 30 minutes, so do not pay expensive charges for supposibly 'specialised technicians'! Hogwash!!! Now for the player. All in all, this is a great machine. First the pros's 1. Good looking sleek machine. 2. Reasonable size hard drive. 3. Plays virtually everything! (not found anything it doesn't play yet!!!) 4. Excellent HD pictures. 5. Compared to other machines, this is cheap for what you get. 6. Once ... Takes a while to start up. 4. Need to record to HDD and then convert and record to DVD. Thats about it! Certainly, if like me you want a cheap, quality, DVD recorder, with Freesat, and you already have a blu ray player, buy this and save yourself some money!

Great Substitute for Sky HD (Freesat) + DVD Expands functionality.
Bought to replace Sky HD for Freesat + DVD record/play - only product I could find in my price bracket; will save £10 / month rental to Sky. Delighted with product - described as re-furbished but it looked new to me. Provided with brand new remote & Batteries, and Optical lead, but no User Guide. Was up and running within 5 minutes of connecting to Satellite dish. Cannot find source for User Guide, but not missing it (yet). Great bargain buy,
Like all the Panasonic equipment I've ever owned this model is not easy to use at first, but once mastered is great. I bought this unit as untested and it took a little while to set up and test its functions but I realise now that I have got a perfectly working unit. I am very pleased with my bargain buy.
