Keep the air moist!
Bought this as the house humidity gets low during the colder months, especially when the central heating is on. This Dyson keeps the ambiant humidity at normal levels with its auto setting. The fan is quiet on the lowest setting. The unit draws about 55w of electricity when running so it's reasonable to run all night, it has a timer to auto shut off when you wake up. The drawback of the Dyson is the cleaning maintenance it requires, if you live in a hard water area you will need to clean it with anti limescale cleaners, the manufacture recommends citric acid poweder 30g mixed in with 1ltr of water and let the vital parts soak for 15-30mins. This can be quite tedius as its a weekly job if you want to adhere to their warranty! Overall it's the best humidifier I have own, I did own the ... Works Well as a Humidifier
There are 3 main parts to be assembled when the box is opened which are the parts that have to be assembled / dismantled for filling with water or cleaning. We use the humidifier in the middle of the through lounge / diner to maintain a humidity of around 50 which helps my asthmatic wife breath easier. The automatic setting of the humidifier varies the humidity according to the room conditions which can be as low as 40. On the manual setting the humidifier needs to be set to 55 to get a humidity setting of 50 on a separate humidity meter remote from the humidifier and maintains this setting well. It is very quiet on the lowest fan setting but is a little noisier on the higher setting but is not intrusive. The water tank tank lasts about 4 ~6 days, depending on the room humidity before ... We do not run the humidifier over night as we do not move it from the lounge to the bedroom. The instructions say to locate the humidifier approximately 1 m. (3 ft.) away from walls or furniture. For most people this would mean having the humidifier in the middle of the lounge floor. It's not exactly a decoration one wants in the middle of the lounge! I have it approximately 50 cm. (18 ins.) from furniture at the back and one side with considerably more than 1 m. in the front and other side. This seems to allows plenty of circulation around the humidifier, particularly at the front to dissipate the moist air which vents from the front of the rim of the silver hoop. The instructions say the humidfier should be cleaned with descaler fluid (citric acid crystals dissolved in water) once a week and more thoroughly once a month. We live in a soft water area and this seems to be very frequent. This humidifier is not like many others which use an element to continuously boil water and therefore scales up quickly. We have not used it as a fan but the air flow at the higher setting is good so should act as a good air circulator in summer (it does not cool the air in the process). Generally we are very pleased with the Dyson Humdifier.

After just one evening it helped clear my sinus relieving headache and migraine pain. Wonderful piece of kit. You set set it up wait 3 minutes and leave it to circulate wonderful cool hydrated air with 99.9% bacteria kill in the hydrated water it circulates. I wish I had bought it sooner I also have the AM09 hot cold fan which is also wonderful for cooling. I have humidifier setup in my bedroom so it clears my sinus as I sleep.After just one evening it helped clear my sinus relieving headache and migraine pain. Wonderful piece of kit.
