BAISE MOI, based on the controversial novel written by co-director Virginie Despentes, is a vivid and brutal reality-based exploration of two women's attempts to reclaim their sexual power. Real-life porn stars Raffaela Anderson and Karen Bach star as the film's THELMA AND LOUISE-style anti-heros. Manu (Anderson), a porn actress, is the victim of a violent gang rape, depicted graphically in the first fifteen minutes of the film, that fills her with internal rage and violent aggression. She sets out on a road trip and meets Delphine (Bach), a drug-addled former prostitute with an aggressive streak. The two join forces and embark on a revenge-fueled sexual rampage, seducing and killing men with reckless abandon. Delphine and Manu are furious and empowered by their sexual prowess; they wield their guns and lingerie-clad bodies like true professionals. Adrenaline drives their killing spree, set to a pounding punk rock score, and murder becomes implicitly linked to sexual gratification. Directors Despentes (a former prostitute) and Coralie Trinh Thi (a former porno actress) shot the film in gritty digital video at a fast-paced reckless clip of 76 minutes, heightening the acute sense of urgency and nihilistic desperation of the two women. By shooting real hard-core sex scenes and employing former porn actresses, they blur the lines between cinema and reality and delve into the dark recesses of female psychology, creating a compelling and daring film that sets the conventional notions of female sexual appetite on end.

The evil Thelma and Louise!
First people need to learn the difference between a B-movie and a brillant written Independent movie. This is one of the most excellent independent films I have ever seen. Now for the movie. I won't give anything away. This movie is about two women and their lives. Both are sick of the way they have been treated by society and people. The story tells a thrilling tale of what happens when someone snaps. That's all I am going to say about it. If you're expecting me to tell you the story well I don't do that sorry. Buy the movie and try it out for yourself. The acting is superb and although never seen before, the actors/actresses pull off a dynamic performance that keep you watching, makes you think, and even at times make you blink. I see why the director wanted to make this as explicit as it is, this movie is about violence placed upon women and how women fight back, it would have given the movie less impact if it didn't show some sexuality and sex. This movie is in great connection with Natural Born Killers and Monster. So you decide. The DVD allows you to turn off subtitles if you speak french. Also has The Making Of, Q&A Session and the Trailer. As the case says, it's "The most extreme thriller you'll ever see legally!". A++++

Naturally this film's reputation rests upon the hardcore sex scenes and is usually the chief reason for its purchase by spotty students the world over. Wholly understandable given the smouldering presences of Rafaella Anderson & Karen Lancaume (billed here as Karen Bach), both professional adult movie actresses and excelling in their trade here. However, Baise Moi is not, as has often been said, an 'erotic thriller'. We can reserve that particularly revolting piece of cinematic phraseology for execrables like Sliver & Fatal Attraction. Neither is Baise Moi a 'sexually explicit road movie', the feeble comparisons to Thelma & Louise simply exhibiting laziness on the part of unimaginative reviewers. Attempting to classify Baise Moi is to swim in dangerous waters. It is arousing. It is ... As with the notorious Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer (possibly Baise Moi's closest American relative)the viewer cannot help but feel somewhat voyeuristic as Anderson & Lancaume go about their murderous work with a casual air akin to that of a dog looking for somewhere to urinate. The curious juxtaposition of lovemaking and fiendishness may pose the question "why am I watching this?" and that alone illustrates the overwhelming importance of this film. You may confidently dismiss the reviews lambasting Baise Moi for its poor acting; both female leads are darkly convincing and support is more than adequate, remarkable given that many of the male actors are also porn 'stars', a profession not especially noted for its Thespianic qualities. Karen Lancaume is particularly outstanding and her own tragedy makes her performance all the more poignant.

Erotic French Cinema Goes "In -your-face"!
This movie is loosely comparable to Thelma And Louise. But where as the American movie succeeds due to its strong two female leads - the French version disappoints. Baise Moi casts two (in their genre at least) well known French porn movie actresses in the lead roles. They go on a sex and drug fuelled revenge spree through France, killing many men along the way. The sex scenes are titillating, in the fact that the actual act is being filmed for the screen, yet anyone expecting explicit viewing will be disappointed. Due to the novelty value of the casting and the fact that it is visually quite a good bit of cinema gains it an average 3 out of 5. Baise Moi, not something to watch with the family
This is quite a shocking dvd. My boyfriend bought it for me as he thought it would be femnistic however although depending on your oerception of things you might find it is. Basically the film is about two girls who are apparently real life porn stars who go on a sex and murder spree. The film is very, very explicit. A very shocking film, i wouldnt recommend many people to watch it due to the nature of the content however if your into sex and violence it'll be right up your street. Bought this dvd on the reviews i read about the film.I do like french films and the subtitles do not bother me, i was strangly hooked to watch the film, probably because there were some in your face sex. But the story line, to me did not grip me as much. Baise-Moi is not going to stay in my line of other fims i like. I suppose its ok if you like soft porn, to get you and your partner going for a session.Bought this dvd on the reviews i read about the film.I do like french films and the subtitles do not bother me, i was strangly hooked to watch the film, probably because there were some in your face sex.
