Strips are black. Leaves mouth full of black flakes after use which can be annoying to remove. The clear versions don't have this problem. The whole charcoal thing seems a gimmick to me, filling your mouth with black so that in comparison it gives the illusion the teeth are whiter. Results seemed the same as clear versions. Another benefit of the transparent versions is that you can see through them which makes accurate placement much easier.
