  • Catch 22 review

One admires the scriptwriter who attempted to reduce the plot of Catch 22 to a film. The story of an american airman who wishes to be sent back home to the usa before his almost certain and inevitable death wanders through a plot of almost bizarre unreality and strange but memorable characters. It is hard to realize that the hero Yossarion could only have been aged about twenty at most. The rest of his colleagues of a similar age. Alan Arkin does not look twenty. The film is linked by annoying and tedious scenes relating to Yossarion helping a mortally injured airman. I suppose this was necessary to show how frightened for his own life Yossarion had become. When I saw the DVD on ebay I had to buy it for my very small collection. The book was argued by John Sargent as the book of the century in a TV programe. It didn't win but was ...

  • Catch 22

This is an all time classic anti war film from my youth days. Brilliantly acted and has a superb mixture of events that balance the whole film. If you've never watched THIS film! Where have you been hiding?🤣
