Sony quality plus an outstanding range of features
I first bought one of these Sony recorders several years ago. The host of features they offer means it takes a bit of time and effort to master its operation but it is well worth it. The large capacity hard disc plus its versatile editing and high speed dubbing facilities make it a great machine for archiving recordings. I don't understand why Sony stopped producing them but their second hand value is a testament to their quality and durability.I first bought one of these Sony recorders several years ago. I was looking for a replacement for my ageing HX510, which I use constantly to rough-edit video from camcorders etc before sending it to the computer for final movie-making. The old HX510 still works, but is beginning to creak and groan (like its owner) and its days are obviously numbered (ditto). Camcorder tapes to DVD in one easy move.
Over the years I have wasted money on many different gadgets and software claiming to be able to transfer my digi 8 camcorder tapes to either computer or DVD and none worked. I'd always discounted this type of machine as it's main function is recording tv programmes and pausing/rewinding live tv etc., a facility I already have. This machine is simple to use and easily converts camcorder tapes and old vcr tapes to DVD. Definitely a star buy. I bought this model to replace the one I have owned since they first appeared on the market which recently stopped working. I am once again enjoying the factility the machine provides to edit home movies etc and burning them to DVD. I can connect my video camera directly too it and finalise a disc that will play in other brands of video player/recorder.
